San Diego, Calif., April 18, 2006 – You can now enjoy salmon without the fuss of preparation thanks to new premium and ready-to-heat, entrée-style whole salmon steaks that bring a high-quality seafood meal to the dinner table in minutes. Popular American household brand Bumble Bee has announced its national introduction of Prime Fillet Pink Salmon Steaks aimed at providing consumers with high-quality, affordable and easy-to-prepare seafood entrée options.
According to Bumble Bee Chief Executive Officer Christopher Lischewski, the new ready-to-heat salmon steaks are an extension of the brand’s successful entry into the ‘dinner’ category last year with Prime Fillet Albacore Steaks. He said, “We’re pleased with how consumers have responded to our first entrée product under our premium Prime Fillet label and are thrilled to follow up on the success of that tuna product with a salmon offering.”
Bumble Bee Prime Fillet Pink Salmon Steaks come in individual servings of 100 percent natural, grilled and firm whole pink salmon steak packaged in easy-open, vacuum-sealed pouches. The steaks are available in two seasoned varieties – Teriyaki and Lemon & Dill.
“When you consider consumer trends and how they continually evolve, convenience is always a recurring theme,” said Lischewski. “Recent research has indicated that as much as 92 percent of the population consumes a ready-to-eat product on a daily basis.”

American Heart Association guidelines recommend “eating fish (particularly fatty fish) at least two times a week.” AHA cites “mackerel, lake trout, herring, sardines, albacore tuna and salmon” as food sources that are “high in omega-3 fatty acids.”
Omega-3 fatty acids have been found to improve heart health, reduce risk of heart disease and hypertension, and aid in mental health.

Prime Fillet Lemon & Dill Salmon Steak with
Roasted Vegetables in Citrus Beurre Blanc Sauce

1 4-oz pouch Prime Fillet Lemon & Dill Salmon Steak
Olive oil, as needed
1/2 red bell pepper, cut into triangles
1/2 yellow bell pepper, cut into triangles
1/2 endive lettuce, quartered
1/2 radicchio lettuce
Salt & freshly cracked pepper to taste
Heat olive oil in a skillet until very hot. Cook vegetables individually and char until crispy. Add salt and freshly cracked pepper to taste, seasoning each vegetable.
Citrus Beurre Blanc Sauce:
1 tsp. garlic minced
1 tsp. shallots minced
1/2 lemon, juiced
2 oz. white wine
3 oz. butter
Make Citrus Beurre Blanc Sauce:
Place garlic, shallots, lemon juice and white wine in pan over high heat. Reduce to au sec (until almost dry). Remove from heat and whisk in butter.
Preheat oven to 350°F. Place salmon steaks on baking tray or half sheet pan. Heat salmon steaks for 10 minutes or until warm in preheated oven. Arrange all vegetables on plate. Pour Citrus Beurre Blanc Sauce over and around the plated vegetables. Place salmon whole on top vegetables and add chopped chives as a simple garnish.
