HIIT Ideas After the Holiday

HIIT is one of those seemingly too good to be true fitness regimes where it’s possible to lose more fat, burn more calories, and improve your general fitness by introducing shorter bursts of exercise. HIIT stands for high intensity interval training (HIIT) and this type of routine could be your new best friend.

HIIT consists of short bursts of maximum intensity exercises combined with longer intervals of moderate exercise. With this type of exercise there are countless possibilities as to what your routine could entail.

There are numerous websites out there that are focused on helping you burn fat fast such as dailyhiit.com or bodybuilding.com. These sites offer free fitness routines and workout ideas for every day of the week. They have many options to suit anyone’s fitness level and style. The image galleries provide you with step-by-step pictures of how to perform the exercises and what your form should look like.

Looking for something less structured? You can create your own HIIT routines right at home by combining high intensity activities in a circuit type of series. One of my favorite routines is to alternate various activities with jumping jacks for a series of 100 without taking any breaks.

For example:

  • 10 jumping jacks
  • 10 mountain climbers
  • 10 jumping jacks
  • 10 burpees
  • 10 jumping jacks
  • 10 alternating side crunches
  • 10 jumping jacks
  • 10 leg lifts
  • 10 jumping jacks
  • 10 crunches

This won’t take you more than 10-20 minutes and will be a sure fire way to get your heart pumping! If you can, try squeezing in something like this a few times a day (great for people who are pressed for time) and you’ll see results in no time! No more excuses! It’s time to get back into action, make up for Holiday slip-ups, and reward yourself with the body of your dreams.

Since HIIT training is very strenuous and not for the faint of heart, it’s not advised for everyone. If you took at bit of time off from exercising, ease into your exercise routine and don’t push yourself too hard. If you are suffering from cardiovascular or any other health problems, speak with your physician before starting any sort of HIIT regimen.

Please know the manufacturing practices we follow year-round protect our both employees and the products they produce. Our facilities have very few people-to-product interactions, all products are sterilized in a high temperature oven and then packaged in highly automated production lines.

Beyond Bumble Bee, we’re continually looking for ways to extend our “people first” approach to make a meaningful impact. With so many people in need, we know this effort is more important than ever. We’re starting by donating more than $1 million in product to food banks in both the US and in Canada. And we will be looking for more opportunities to make a positive difference in the days to come.
