5 Fall Destination Races

If you’re itching to hit the road and pound the pavement, it’s not too late to plan a great running getaway. Here are five great fall destination races you should quickly add to your calendar.

November 11-13, 2016

If you want an excuse to head to the beach, look no further. This race weekend takes place in the Outer Banks, which means you’ll be close to the OBX beaches, piers, and restaurants. The race routes will take you through spots like Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills, Nags Head, and Manteo. These East Coast courses are as beautiful as they are historical. This is one of those race weekends that you should definitely extend into a full-on vacation.

Marathon and half marathon participants receive gender specific tech shirts, and OBX finisher SWAG. All runners receive medals and are invited to attend the expo and post-race party – complete with live music, free beer, and free food. The weekend events also include an 8K, 5K, Fun Run, and Diaper Dash. With that many options, there is a little something for every runner.

October 30, 2016

When it comes to nailing every little detail, the Marine Corp Marathon can’t be beat. Known as “The People’s Marathon”, this race is recognized for its inclusiveness and impeccable organization. The scenic course, managed by the US Marines, passes by some of the most impressive and recognizable landmarks in the country. The views almost make up for that famous uphill finish.

Participants receive amazing course support and entertainment, hospitality boxes, recovery jackets, and a finisher’s medal.

November 13, 2016

If neon lights are more your style, head straight to the starting line of the Rock ‘N’ Roll Las Vegas race series. These races all take place in the late afternoon and evening, so you can take full advantage of the sights.  Want to get hitched while you’re there? Take part in the “Run Thru” wedding – get married along with a group of fellow runners in a fun five-minute ceremony during your race. You can also spread the love in other ways– you have the option to participate for free by fundraising money for St. Jude.

Participants receive live course entertainment, glowing finisher medal, technical t-shirt, drawstring gear check bag, runner perks wristband, one post-race beer, and admission to the Health and Fitness Expo. Marathon and half marathon runners also receive admission to the Start Line Festival, with marathon runners snagging a sweet jacket to boot.

November 5-6, 2016

The Moab Trail race weekend boasts one of the most scenic trails in the United States. Runners from all over head to Moab, Utah every year to take advantage of the unforgettable and awe-inspiring landscape. The races will take you through red rock canyons, with views of the snow-capped mountains and beautiful natural arches in the distance. This event will serve as the 2016 Trail Marathon National Championships, which means you’re also sure to see some intense competitors out on the course!

Participants receive a t-shirt, post-race soup and snacks, and a finisher’s medal.  There are additional prizes for male and female age group winners.

November 12, 2016

A fall destination race list wouldn’t be complete without mentioning “America’s Friendliest Marathon”. They earned this title by including fun features like junk food stops, wet washcloth stations, live bands and DJs, and Party Zones. This scenic course winds through Richmond’s most historic neighborhoods and features amazing views of the James River. The river is such a big part of the race that the finish line and post-race party are right on the riverfront.

Participants receive top-notch aid stations along the way, a long sleeve technical race shirt, a custom medal and fleece finisher blanket at the finish line, admission to the post-race celebration, and plenty of free food and drinks.

A note from our CEO about COVID-19x
Bumble Bee Seafood Logo

The coronavirus has changed life, as we knew it, forever. Most people will be touched in some way by the pandemic either physically, emotionally or financially. We’ve all heard heart-breaking stories from around the world about lives that have been lost and severe financial hardships caused by the sudden shutdown of so many businesses.

On behalf of all our team members around the globe, we extend our deepest sympathies to all that are struggling through personal challenges, whatever they may be, and we offer our sincerest gratitude to all the heroes who are helping those in need.

We’d also like to add how important it is for everyone to continue to do their part to slow the spread. Physical distancing is critical, and we must all take this seriously. We use the word “physical” because staying away from people in a physical way does not mean we should be neglecting the importance of social interactions, compassion and patience.

We are one of the largest providers of shelf-stable seafood and it is our honor and our responsibility to do our part, in every way we can, to help to keep people fed with affordable, nutritious protein. To that end, we’re continuing to run our factories in the US and Canada while our partners around the world continue to provide supply.

We take great pride in being a “people-first” company, so our decision to continue operations is done with utmost concern for the people making it possible. We’ve enhanced our safety measures to meet or exceed CDC guidelines and we have increased wages in our factories to assist employees dealing with the incremental costs of working and new, unexpected demands on their households.

We also take great pride in producing healthy, nutritious and safe products for our customers. Please know the manufacturing practices we follow year-round protect our both employees and the products they produce. Our facilities have very few people-to-product interactions, all products are sterilized in a high temperature oven and then packaged in highly automated production lines.

Beyond Bumble Bee, we’re continually looking for ways to extend our “people first” approach to make a meaningful impact. With so many people in need, we know this effort is more important than ever. We’re starting by donating more than $1 million in product to food banks in both the US and in Canada. And we will be looking for more opportunities to make a positive difference in the days to come.

Finally, I want to thank you, our loyal and new customers, for your support. We hope you find the recipes on our website helpful and easy to prepare. I also want to send a sincere thank you to our Bumble Bee Team and our valued supply partners around the world for their tireless efforts, particularly those working in sales, manufacturing, distribution and all our support roles, ensuring we can keep store and pantry shelves stocked.

Please continue to do your part to keep yourselves and your families safe during this truly unprecedented time.

With Gratitude,
CEO, Bumble Bee Seafoods
