If you’re heading off to college this fall, I’m sure the last thing you’re stressing about is what you will eat. That being said, it’s never a bad idea to plan ahead. Even if you have a meal plan, you’ll probably want to stock up on some shelf-stable snacks for your dorm room. If you’re running late for class or studying well into the night, you’ll be glad you have some healthy, nutritious options ready and waiting.

It can be really difficult to find shelf-stable protein options that are both nutritious and delicious, but Bumble Bee® Ready-To-Eat Snack Kits check off all of those boxes and more. You can munch on tuna or chicken with crackers or you can grab a convenient tuna pouch with included spoon. Either way, you have a quick and easy pre- or post- class snack.

There are about a million different healthy ways to serve this old-school snack. Whether you’re topping toast, rolling it up in a tortilla with a banana, or eating it straight up, nut butter is a great go-to for busy students. Stock up on a few different types and flavors and it will never get old.

While fresh fruits and veggies don’t last as long as the canned or packaged variety, it’s still a good idea to keep them around. Apples, oranges, and bananas are all “self-contained”, so they will do pretty well on a shelf or in your bag. Avocados, tomatoes, and cucumbers can also be stored in your dorm. Just wash and slice immediately before dipping in a bit of dip or sprinkling with salt and pepper.

When you’re up late studying, you’ll definitely need a bit of a sweet treat to power you through. For a great homemade trail mix, throw together different types of nuts, freeze-dried fruits or vegetables, and a bit of your favorite candy. You really can’t go wrong as long as the majority of your items include no added sugar or salt.
