Oyster Stew

Servings: Serves 4. Makes 5 cups


1 can (8 oz) Fancy Whole Oysters, drained (reserve liquid)

1 tablespoon margarine

1/2 cup diced onion

1 chicken bouillon cube, crumbled

1 quart low-fat milk

2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce

2 drops liquid hot pepper sauce (optional)


In a medium saucepan, heat margarine and saute onion until soft. Add reserved 1/4 cup oyster liquid, bouillon cube, milk, Worchestershire, and hot pepper sauce. Cook over low heat stirring about every 5 minutes. Do not allow mixture to come to a boil. Add oysters and heat for 2 minutes longer until heated through. Makes about 5 cups.
