Fall Favorites For Your Healthy Lifestyle
We know that the first official day of fall doesn’t occur until the 22nd, but we’re already starting to feel some fall vibes as menus start to change and a cool breeze blows in. While we don’t change our food and drink choices entirely based on a new season, we do notice that as summer turns to fall we gravitate towards a few new fall favorites in terms of products and activities. Here’s what we’re loving now (and most likely will be continuing well into fall!):
Numi Chocolate Mint Tea
You can brew this tea as is for a warm, full-bodied, richly-flavored treat…OR, do what we do and add a drop of honey along with some steamed milk and make a chocolate mint tea latte! This brand is one of our favorites because their flavors come from herbs and spices instead of added flavors.
Dr. Bronner’s Sal Suds
As the seasons change, we always do a serious deep clean and Sal Suds helps us in every room of the house. Dilute it in a spray bottle for a multipurpose cleaner, mix half and half with water to use for dish soap, add to a bucket of water to use as a floor cleaner, use full strength for tough grease, and mix with baking soda for tough scrubbing/stain situations. You can even use it as a laundry detergent! We love that this company is ethically sourced, treats employees well, and uses only environmentally sustainable ingredients.
Trader Joe’s Frozen Carrot Spirals (and refrigerated Sweet Potato Ribbons):
Want to spice up your fall veggie intake in a fun, delicious way? These carrot spirals will help. We have baked them like curly fries, tossed them with curry vinaigrette, and mixed them with whole wheat pasta to use as a base for marinara and meatballs. If you feel like your veggie sides are constantly looking like the same old same old, we highly recommend tossing these into the mix! The only ingredients are carrots and sea salt so they are as close to homemade as you can get!
When school starts and work is in full swing, we depend on weeknight meals that can be on the table in 30 minutes or less. Making fish tacos with Bumble Bee Solid White Albacore Tuna is a go-to fall dinner for us, paired with quinoa and topped with leftover roasted veggies and salsa. You can mix the tuna with any spices you’re really feeling at the moment. Our current favorites are garlic powder, cumin, smoked paprika, and sea salt.
The weather is that perfect in between mix of sunshine and warmth with a cooler breeze and it’s PERFECT for getting outside for a hike. You can use this trail guide to locate trails near you, from an hour long hike to a multi-day trek. Personally, we love a couple hour hike on the weekend followed by a relaxing lunch! For a quick hiking snack, we recommend taking a spoon tuna pouch with you wherever your adventure goes.
Any fall food, drink, or activity recommendations you’re especially into right now, or can’t wait to start eating/drinking/using this fall? We’d love to hear!
