> Get Out and Get Fit This Spring

Embrace the Spring weather and spruce up your workout by adding some sunshine and fresh air to the mix! The month of May is a great time to head outdoors to raise your heart rate and burn off some of those pesky pounds put on over the winter months. Here are some ideas to help you get out and get fit this month!

bicycling

  1. Ride a bike. May is National Bike Month, so strap on your helmet and start peddling! Biking is great for all fitness levels—it can be as leisurely as a family bike ride or as strenuous as off-trail mountain biking. For biking events, trails and groups in your area you can visit the League of American Bicyclists website.
  2. Sign up and take part in a charitable walk or run. We celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Y-ME Race at Your Pace on May 8th in Chicago. This Bumble Bee-sponsored event raised funds for the Y-ME National Breast Cancer Organization to ensure that no one faces breast cancer alone. Find an event in your hometown that benefits a charity or cause that is near and dear to you. Sign up, involve your friends and families, and walk/run to make a difference!
  3. Join an adult sports team. Not only will you have some fun, but it will be good for your health! From flag football and kickball, to golf and bowling, there is something for everyone. And depending on where you live, many adult sports leagues also organize volunteer opportunities, social gatherings, and even vacations! Check out your local Department of Parks and Recreation website for opportunities in your neighborhood.

No matter how you decide to incorporate the outdoors into your Spring routine, remember to log your miles and Bee the Difference! For every mile you walk/run/bike, Bumble Bee will donate $0.10/mile to the Y-ME National Breast Cancer Organization. It is easy; just create an account at BeeWellForLife.com and log your miles!

Indulge in Some Greens This Month

Being healthy isn't just about working out. It is about eating well too! Your eating and exercise habits should have a balance of calories in and calories out, and salads are a great way to achieve that balance while getting an assortment of protein and nutrients. But, salads can also
