New Year, New You? Get a Healthy Head-Start
It’s a new year, so start it off right! This month, focus on a happier, healthier you. Make wellness your goal for 2010 and let Bumble Bee help you achieve it. Every year, nutrition and weight loss resolutions are made, but sometimes it’s hard to see them through. According to last year’s Opinion Research Corporation survey looking at 2009 resolutions, 71 percent of people said they were most likely to break their exercise plans, and 70 percent said they were most likely to break their diet plans. Don’t let history repeat itself. Remember, a healthy lifestyle is a combination of eating well and staying active.

With the holidays behind us, January means a fresh start. Find ways to incorporate healthful options and vegetables into every dinner and encourage the kids to drink plenty of milk and water. Got a sweet-tooth craving that just won’t go away? Check out BeeDelicious with Willow & Stephanie for five deliciously healthy desserts.

And now that you’re on track to eating right, you’ll have more energy to keep you active. Fight back against the cold weather with these winter exercise tips:
  • Visit your community’s indoor pool. After a few laps, you’ll feel a total body workout. And the best part is you can relax in the Jacuzzi afterward!
  • Hit the slopes! Skiing is a high-intensity workout for your heart and your muscles, and a great way to spend time with the whole family.
  • Take the stairs. When you’re at work, at the mall, and any other chance you get, choose the stairs over the elevator. It’s an easy way to burn a few extra calories and get your heart pumping.
  • Take the dog for a walk or run. Your pup needs activity just as much as you do so bundle up and face the chill together.
For other keep-fit tips for the New Year, see BeeActive with Coach Jenny and stay motivated all winter long.

Plan, Shop and Save
Everyone could use a little wiggle room when it comes to budgeting. According to a recent Bumble Bee Foods survey, 81 percent of consumers are spending more or about the same on groceries as they did two years ago, and the same respondents also claimed they are actively looking for ways to save on their grocery bills. Enjoyable family dinners don’t have to break the bank. With these easy, budget-friendly tips, saving money never tasted so good!

Meal Planning. Planning your meals will save you time and money, and can even help reduce the amount of food thrown away due to spoilage.

Stock and Save. Canned and packaged foods are quick meal solutions and great to have on hand for surprise guests, so stock up! And don’t forget our products of the month, BUMBLE BEE® Solid White Albacore in Water and BUMBLE BEE® Chunk Light Tuna in Water – two affordable, tasty additions to any meal.

Get Creative. Now that you’re stocking up on canned and packaged foods, get creative with your meals. You can still have a delicious meal that is also affordable, easy to make, and Bumble Bee Foodsnutritious.
