Launching the second week of August, Bumble Bee will host a recipe contest on its Facebook page. Participating is easy. Simply go to our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/BumbleBeeFoods, become a fan, go to the contest tab and submit your original recipe using at least one Bumble Bee product along with a photo. The winner will be announced in September and will receive a trip for two to Santa Barbara, California, including travel, a two-night hotel stay at Hotel Oceana, a cooking lesson with Bumble Bee’s chef partner Chef Scott Leibfried and a meal at his restaurant, Arch Rock Fish.
Public voting will determine the 10 finalists so be sure to tell your friends and family to vote for you! Making Family Memories
The month of August is Family Fun Month, and while we hope you have fun with your family year-round, August is the perfect month to relish some family fun before summer winds down and the kids head back to school! So this month, set aside a few days to unplug, unwind and spend some quality time with your family making memories.
Here are some ideas for you and your family to enjoy together:
- Plan and prepare a meal together, with each member of the family having a different responsibility. For instance, if your child is in charge of making the salad, let them take the reins, including picking out salad items at the grocery store, putting together the salad and serving. - Pack a picnic basket and head to your favorite park! The whole family can enjoy the summertime weather and run around, throw the ball or simply relax on a blanket and then indulge in a prepared meal.
- Go somewhere new. It is always fun and exciting to explore new places, so pack up the family and head out. Maybe it's a weekend trip or maybe it's a place right around the corner you've always wanted to visit like a kid's museum or hiking trail.
- Let the kids plan a day. With a few ground rules in place (of course), give your kids the chance to plan out their ideal day with you, from what you are doing and eating to where you are going. Maybe that means pizza for breakfast and popsicles for dinner, but for one day, just go with it!
- Play a board game. Breakout the board games that may have been collecting dust in the closet and engage in some good ol' fashion family fun spending the night around the table rolling the dice and collecting $200 when you pass go!
