Heart-healthy foods like salmon and flax, are rich in omega-3s, which have a number of healthy benefits for your heart. The key to creating good-for-your-heart recipes is to preserve the purity of these ingredients without adding not-so-good-for-you foods.
In honor of American Heart Month, here's a simple recipe that uses only the freshest ingredients to prepare a delicious and heart-healthy broiled salmon fillet.
Broiled Salmon Fillet Recipe by Chef Scott Leibfried
Ingredients

Salt and Pepper (Can substitute with an herb or spice of your choice) |

1 lemon |

1 cup of mixed greens or raw spinach |

Dressing of your choice |
Directions
Set oven to broil.
Line a baking tray with foil (to avoid a big clean up) and place the salmon on the tray.
Season salmon with salt and pepper, or a spice or herb of your choice.
Cut lemon in half and place it on the tray.
Broil the salmon for 8 to 12 minutes, depending on thickness.
Combine mixed greens or raw spinach with the dressing of your choice.
Place the salmon on top of the salad mixture and squeeze the warm lemon over the fish and greens.
This entire meal can be prepped and cooked in 15 minutes or less, using only five ingredients — most of which you might already have in your refrigerator or pantry! It's tasty, packed with protein and nutrients, and is all-around good for you.
