When it comes to our build, we are all different. Certain workouts and equipment work better for some than others. The best way to figure out what works for you and your body is to explore your options. The jump rope is a cheap accessory that can do wonders for your body, whether you are aiming to tone up, or lose some centimeters.
Before you start your jump rope exercise routine, you might want to follow a few form tips and instructions for using this basic fitness beast.
- In order to find a jump rope length that is fit for your body, step in the center of the rope and lift the handles. These handles should not go past your armpits; this way you know if it’s the right size.
- Don’t jump higher than what is necessary to cover the top of the rope. You should be landing on the balls of your feet and the rope should easily slip beneath them.
- Your elbows should be positioned next to your side; your shoulders shouldn’t be doing the work, but rather your wrists and forearms.
Fat Burning Blast
Jumping rope is the perfect way to burn some fat. Did you know that jumping rope can help you burn up to 200 calories within a 10-minute training session? Jumping rope is categorized as a low impact exercise that will strengthen your behind, shoulders, arms, and legs.
Single and Double
After you’ve got the basics down, you will realize there is more than one way to jump rope. You can choose to do double leg or single leg jumps. Double leg jumps would require you to lift both feet off the ground when jumping over the rope.
Single leg jumps will have you alternating between your right and left leg. Start out with what feels comfortable and then try different ways of jumping.
The great thing about your jump rope exercises is that you can control the intensity and duration of your workout. Try to jump at a steady pace for at least 2 minutes at a time. You can also include other ‘bootcamp’ type exercises in between skipping rope.
Exercise on the Go
One of the greatest benefits of exercising with a jump rope is that you can do your workout almost anywhere. If you are on the go but need to fit in your daily exercise, carry your jump rope with you. Devoting 10 minutes before going to bed to jump rope can burn up to 1000 calories per week.
