The final days of warm weather are the perfect time to get in touch with your wants and needs, but what if you have screaming toddlers and picky preschoolers to deal with? Here are 4 ways to help you stick to your healthy lifestyle and fitness routine with kids at home!
Join in on the Fun
The best way to keep sweating is to join in on the action. Just because your kids are out and about doesn’t mean that you can’t get involved. Organize outdoor activities that the entire family can engage in.
Younger children love it when their moms join in on the fun, so let your hair down and ‘sing and dance along’. If you have older kids, they might be keeping themselves busy, but why not suggest a scenic hike with your teenage son/daughter. Who knows, you might even make a habit out of it.
Organize Play Dates
There is nothing wrong with taking a break from the children every now and then. Kids are always begging for play dates, so this should not be too hard to arrange. Use these hours to fit in your weekly workouts. If you aren’t a member at a gym, ask around about some dance or fitness classes in your area. This might even be the ideal time to join a boot camp or running group.
Get an Accountability Partner
An accountability partner might be just what you need to keep you on track with your health and fitness goals. Whether a friend or personal trainer, establish what you want to achieve and ask that person to push you until you have succeeded in your challenge.
Keep Cooking “Clean”
Eating clean is simply the practice of avoiding processed and refined foods and basing your diet on whole foods. Do your children and husband a favor by keeping your home cooking clean. Of course, you will be dining out and having a lot of barbecues while it’s still warm out, but the majority of your meals should be healthy and nutritious. Help your family to create a balance between relaxation and a healthy lifestyle.
