Thanksgiving is finally here. Many of us will be hanging out with family and friends, chowing down on delicious food, and lounging around during whatever downtime is left. No matter what you have planned, though, squeezing in some fun Thanksgiving activities are always a great idea to stay fit.
Pound the Pavement
To make your workout even more exciting, sign up for a Turkey Trot or Turkey Day 5k. If you’re really feeling festive, have the family dress up for the occasion. A few feathers and some creativity go a long way. Check out Active.com to see if there are any events in your area.
Hit the Gym
Surprisingly, not all gyms close up shop on Thanksgiving. In fact, some of them even choose to host themed workouts that morning. “Burn the Turkey” classes can be found at studios all over the country. Pure Yoga will be offering several workshops, for example.
Include the Kids
You already need to entertain the littlest guests, so why not make it a family affair? As cheesy as it sounds, playing holiday-themed games can really be fun for everyone. It doesn’t really matter what you play, as long as people get moving. This list of Thanksgiving games has some great ideas.
Don’t Sweat It
Whatever you do, make sure to focus on having fun and spending time with the people you love. If you don’t have time for a full-on workout, try to get moving as much as you can throughout the day. Finding time for a brisk walk or squeezing in a quick bodyweight workout can make all the difference.
