4 Simple & Delicious Dark Chocolate Desserts

Happy almost Valentine’s Day! Nothing says love like a homemade gift. And if it includes chocolate, even better –– are you with us? If so, we’ve got four simple yet delicious ideas that you can whip up whether you’re celebrating with friends, family, a significant other, or the ultimate loved one . . . you!

 

They all take under 10 minutes to prep, so you can spend more time loving and less time in the kitchen.

 

Avocado-Chocolate Mousse topped with Strawberries

Don’t be discouraged by the name. Avocado makes an amazing creamy base for this chocolatey mousse, all while adding healthy monounsaturated (good for the heart!) fats. Without further ado….the recipe.

Makes 2 servings:

1 avocado, peeled and pitted

1/4 cup dark chocolate pieces

1 tablespoon unsweetened vanilla almond milk

1 tablespoon unsweetened dark cocoa powder

1 tablespoon honey

1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup fresh strawberries

Microwave the dark chocolate in a microwavable bowl in 15-second increments, stirring in between, until melted and smooth. Scrape the melted chocolate into a food processor and add avocado flesh, almond milk, cocoa powder, honey, and vanilla. Process until smooth, about 2 minutes. Refrigerate for 30 minutes before serving. Top with strawberries.

Chocolate-Coconut Haystacks

If your favorite Halloween candy was (or is) a Mounds bar, you’ll love this simple and cleaner version.

Recipe: Melt 1 cup dark chocolate chips or pieces in a microwave safe bowl, about 2 minutes on 50% power, stirring every 30 seconds and making sure not to burn. Once chocolate is melted and smooth, stir in 1 cup shredded unsweetened coconut. Using a tablespoon, scoop mounds of chocolate and coconut onto a non-stick silicone mat or wax paper. Refrigerate to cool and harden, at least 10 minutes.
